While he may be in the main event of WrestleMania, fans still count Cody Rhodes as one of the founders of the company that is giving tough competition to WWE in North America, AEW. Rhodes, along with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Tony Khan, started AEW with the hope of giving something new to the fans.

Sitting down with Ariel Helwani, Cody Rhodes opened up about his opinion on the AEW All Out 2022 backstage brawl. Talking about the motive for starting the company and his bond with Elite was something he had already mentioned in previous interviews. The thing that made people look at this interview again was when Cody talked about his relationship with CM Punk.

He said, “But I also had a great relationship with Punk. He was my dinner buddy. They’d order dinner for me at AEW every week as one of my management perks or whatever. I don’t think he knew I always just put it on my tab because I wanted to make sure he was getting something too, salmon or sushi. We didn’t talk a lot but [we] had a great relationship, would sit and chat, and I was so excited to have him back.

He then went on to tell Helwani that he didn’t put any blame on anybody. The 2023 Royal Rumble winner also expressed anger at people who messaged him about being smart and getting out. All he wants is to see the company grow. He wants to let everyone know that they should give the initial mission of the company priority. At last, he just sighed, saying that he was just bummed to see something like this happen in the company.

Unlike Rhodes, his former nemesis has displayed a dismissive attitude towards Punk. Seth Rollins flipped out when asked if he would like to see Punk returning to WWE. So far, we have heard nothing from Punk in response to all the backlash. Indeed his AEW and pro wrestling status remains up in the air.
