WWE had many major announcements on this week as they revealed the new platform for streaming WWE RAW. Alongside the streaming partner news, they also revealed major announcements related to their management body and Dwayne Johnson. After inducting his name into the Hall of Fame and WrestleMania 40, The Rock will also appear in the management side of things. Celebrating the moment, his former boss, Vince McMahon heaped praise on The People’s champ.

Vince McMahon praises Dwayne Johnson while announcing his induction

Businesswire reported on January 23rd through their website that WWE Legend and Hall of Famer, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock would be a part of the TKO Board of Directors. With his induction, there are a total of 12 members, including Ari Emanuel and Vince McMahon, Executive Chairman of the Board.

McMahon praised Johnson while announcing his induction and briefed him about the values he brings to the prestigious group. McMahon said, “Very few people on the planet understand the convergence of sports, entertainment, media, and business-like Rock. We are proud to have him join the TKO board to help take our company to new heights.

Johnson is a part of many entrepreneurial ventures like Seven Bucks Productions, ZOA Energy, Teremana Tequila, Project Rock, and the United Football League. Besides his entrepreneurial experience, he also holds a wealth of $800 million and a massive social media following with over 384 million followers.

Most of the followers are courtesy of his work as a wrestler, Hollywood stardom and a charismatic personality. Hence, adding Dwayne Johnson to the Board of Directors list makes a lot of business sense for TKO Holdings. It is a strategic decision for WWE while they rewarded Dwayne Johnson with a unique reward.

Dwayne Johnson gets a unique reward while getting on-board

Dwayne Johnson was invited to an exclusive interview on CNBC on January 23rd along with Ari Emanuel, CEO of TKO Group. In the interview he revealed that he has received complete ownership of his popular ring name ‘The Rock’.

The People’s Champ revealed how much excited he was to have the copyright over his gimmick name, that brought him great laurels during his wrestling days. He said, “And this idea, the name of The Rock for me, I owe that name. Everything without that name, there would be no wrestling career, there would be no Hollywood career.” He also stated how he has sentimental reasons attached to the ring name as it is a derivative of his father’s name.
