Addressing that current hot notion, former WCW legend Eric Bischoff pointed out some major reasons why it wouldn’t be wise for WWE to follow in other sports’ footsteps in terms of commercializing. he referred to NASCAR, a fully commercialized sport to frame a comparative discussion.

While not denying the monetary benefit it will bring, the 67-year-old believe it will cost the very flavor of the sport that predominantly revolves around the characters and storytelling.

Speaking on the recent episode of Strictly Business with Eric Bischoff, the WWE veteran noted, ‘‘I am sure there’d be a lot of money in it but having wrestlers coming to the ring with logos all over them like a Nascar driver would definitely take that’s an exaggeration but it would definitely take away from the character itself and the ability to really merchandise that character.

Going deep into that matter further, Bischoff added ”I just don’t see that working in wrestling coming to the ring with logos on the back on the back of his gimmick The Undertaker presented by Sprite you know that’s just to talk about the moment but it’s so funny.

It seems that the parent company isn’t thinking of applying the same method of UFC to WWE, at least for now. Shapiro hinted at the negative side of the stance without forecasting anything specific. He noted that they will analyze a lot of things considering the different nature of the two sports before coming to any decision right away.

However, if not commercialization, we still need to see what else the merger will bring to the table for WWE and how it impacts the wide fan base who are highly sensitive, even about the slightest change.
