WWE is in the headlines nowadays because of its merger with the UFC. When William Morris Endeavor bought the Stamford-based company, they joined it with the already acquired MMA promotion to give birth to a $21.4 billion company called TKO. The idea of a similar merger has appeared to have reached Dwayne Johnson as well. Although he doesn’t own a wrestling promotion, his football league definitely holds room for a merger.
XFL appeared in the football industry all the way back in 1999 but folded immediately after one season. Despite its failed revival in February 2020, Johnson decided to buy it from Vince McMahon in the same year and tried to relaunch it again. After this year’s reboot, things look good for XFL as The Rock might go down the route of his former boss.

TKO has officially started its journey around a week ago. So far, things have been running smoothly in terms of management. According to AXIOS, the minor football league is rumored to merge with the United States Football League, USFL. This could solve some challenges that XFL faced in its rebooted first season this year, starting with the $60 million loss that it faced after the season wrapped up.
To cope with the loss, Johnson has already come up with a bunch of strategies, including layoffs and changing their employment methods. But combining with the USFL could give them an extra edge since it was difficult for XFL to make its own identity with a giant like NFL around

When we look at WWE’s deal as an example, it appears to be nothing but a ‘genius’ move by Vince McMahon. After the merger, WWE faced its fair share of layoffs, however, this move by Mr. McMahon can’t be considered anything less than brilliant. During a recent interview with WrestlingInc, former WWE talent Al Snow talked about the merger and claimed, “I think that it speaks to the genius that is Vince McMahon.”
The reason why he said so is because of how the former CEO of WWE left the promotion only to come back and sit in a higher position. Then, he sold the company for $4 billion higher than its valuation. So, The Great One might be hoping to make a similar profit by working on a merger.
