WWE rings are considered a sacred place. Countless legends have walked in and out of those ropes for years. With the action a squared circle endures, it is mandatory to strengthen the base (literally) of any fight. Therefore, when a ring collapses due to the impact, fans go berserk. WWE Payback witnessed such an incident when the ring collapsed in the main event.
The Fiend Breaks The Ring At WWE Payback
For the main event, Payback had a no holds barred triple threat match for the Universal Championship. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt (C), Braun Strowman, and Roman Reigns faced off against each other. However, due to a contract dispute, Roman Reigns’ participation remained under question.

The match started off as Strowman attacked The Fiend during his entrance. As the two brawled all over the ring, Reigns was nowhere to be seen. As Braun and Wyatt both went onto the top rope, things became interesting. Then, the unthinkable happened.
As soon as the Fiend superplexed Braun from the top rope, THE RING COLLAPSED!

First time was fantastic with Brock and show, second time with show and mark was great, now y’all have done this way to many times and it’s not cool anymore

I’m sorry but the ring breaking isn’t awesome anymore. I knew the minute Strowman was struggling on the ropes, the ring was gonna break. It’s no longer an Omg moment. It’s just a predictable, recycled, gimmick ripoff that gets worse everytime they do it!

Right after the ring collapsed, Roman Reigns appeared and signed the contract, along with Paul Heyman. After he entered the match, it was a cakewalk for him. Reigns pinned Braun for the title, winning for the second time.
Like Roman Reigns, Wyatt too “did not lose” the title because the champion was not pinned. We are probably going to see Wyatt going after Reigns to reclaim his title. After WWE Payback, all eyes are now on Raw.
