Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Mankind, Kane and Vince McMahon feature in this brilliant commercial. WWE tried to bring its product to a more mainstream audience in 1999, which was smack in the middle of the Monday Night Wars.
Stone Cold Steve Austin smashed a suit-clad corporate employee with a steel chair, ironically calling WWE a non-violent form of entertainment. The Rock emphasised on how the wrestlers are attempting to be positive role models, as an employee is tossed through a glass wall.
Undertaker commented on how the WWE product is a wholesome, family-friendly experience. Mick Foley leaned back and calmly talked about how they’re trying to make the world a better place for ‘Mankind’. “Get it?” cried Vince McMahon as an employee gets tossed out of the WWE headquarters building in Stamford, Connecticut.
This commercial served the purpose of introducing the mainstream audience to the WWE. With the biggest stars of the Attitude Era featured, it played an influential role in winning the Monday Night Wars.
