WrestleMania 33 was a battle of the beasts. As Goldberg returned to WWE after 12 years, he targeted Brock Lesnar first. The Superstars traded insults over social media and RAW before Goldberg came back to WWE.

Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 20 in their first match, leading Heyman to term it as “one blemish on Lesnar’s career.” Heyman challenged him to come and face the “Beast Incarnate.” The following week on RAW, Goldberg came back to WWE after a decade and accepted the challenge.

The match at Survivor Series 2016 saw Goldberg defeating Lesnar in an embarrassing 1 minute and 26 seconds. Months later, on the RAW following Royal Rumble 2017, Lesnar challenged Goldberg for “one final match.”

On the day he accepted the challenge, he also received a match against then-Universal Champion Kevin Owens. As Goldberg won the title at Fastlane, the match at WrestleMania 33 became a match for the title.

They built up the feud more as Heyman proclaimed Goldberg will be “Brock’s Bit*h” after WrestleMania. At the last confrontation before Mania, Goldberg speared Lesnar.

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar clashed in a phenomenal battle

At WrestleMania, the two faced off in the third last match of the night. The match barely lasted 5 minutes but was full of action. Lesnar performed a total of 10 German Suplexes on Goldberg.

Following the first three suplexes, Goldberg recovered and speared twice. After Lesnar rolled out of the ring to recover, Goldberg speared him into the timekeeper’s area and brought him back to the ring.

In the ring, Goldberg attempted a jackhammer, only for Lesnar to counter it with an F5. However, his opponent countered as well and hit a spear and Jackhammer combo.

Lesnar managed to kick out of the combo and became the first man to do so. He dodged another Jackhammer and attacked Goldberg with seven more German suplexes.

Following an F5, Brock Lesnar gave Goldberg the first ‘clean’ loss of his career. After winning the Universal title, Lesnar became the first wrestler to have held both WWE and the Universal title.

After this, Goldberg was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He won the Universal title from Bray Wyatt and became the first wrestler to win the world title after getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. He eventually lost the title to Braun Strowman on WrestleMania 36.
