This week’s Monday Night Raw has been full of surprises. Sami Zayn faced off with Seth Rollins for a shot at his title. A four-way fatal match took place to find a worthy contender for Gunther and a Women’s Battle Royale match occurred so that fans would get to know the next opponent for Rhea Ripley. One of the contenders for the Women’s World Championship title Chelsea Green was greeted with a surprise after her elimination from the Battle Royale.

Triple H had a surprise for Chelsea Green

After Piper Niven eliminated her from the Battle Royale, Chelsea Green complained backstage about the unfairness of the bout. When she asked who was the mastermind behind pitting her along with Nivan in the ring, the camera suddenly panned to a towering figure who was none other than Gene Snitsky. As Green looked at him from top to bottom, Snitsky said, “That wasn’t my fault” with a creepy grin followed by an uncontrollable laughter.

Snitsky used to be a prominent figure from the Ruthless Aggression Era which lasted from 2002 to 2008. During this era, WWE tried to break the notion that only big and towering figures are worthy of being champions. This era paved the way for many stars, such as CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, and Chris Jericho. According to reports, they released the Ruthless Aggression era star from his contract in 2008 upon his own request.

The younger audience who saw Gene Snitsky for the first time were confused as to why he said that line. But for the older fans that particular line brought back a flood of memories.

Was it really Gene Snitsky’s fault?

Around 2004, Snitsky was brought in by WWE after his successful run at Westside Xtreme Wrestling. Right off the bat, he was pitted against the Big Red Machine. Kane who had established himself as a formidable wrestler was feared by almost everyone. The idea was to get the star a punching bag so that he could get the frustration out after he was defeated by Shawn Micheals a night before the Unforgiven PLE. The stars started to brawl out and the audience was mildly entertained. Things quickly took an exciting turn when Snitsky hit Kane with a steel chair which made him fall on his pregnant scripted wife Lita.

This incident caused a miscarriage and made Snitsky his one and only foe. Since then whenever he saw Kane or someone asked about the incident he would reply with “It wasn’t my fault” as according to him, he was doing his job. Later on, this incident earned him a permanent name at Raw and even earned him a place on Triple ‘Preparation’ H’s team for the Survivor Series that year. Since that incident, the line became his catchphrase and served as an easter egg at this week’s Monday Night Raw, his old stomping ground. What was your reaction when Snitsky showed up out of the blue? What do you think he was doing at the backstage?
