NXT Takeover: In Your House is in the books, and like last year it was a one match show. Another similarity from last year was Triple H and Shawn Michaels making a special appearance. Before the show went on air, HBK and the Game welcomed the crowd to the Capitol Wrestling Center for a huge night of wrestling.

D-Generation X is synonymous with the In Your House series of PPVs. Triple H and Shawn Michaels made a career out of their In Your House matches, with clashes against Henry Godwinn, Diesel, Mankind and British Bulldog coming to mind.

Triple H’s breakout performance came at In Your House 5: Season’s Beatings. Punished for the controversial Curtain Call, the Game faced Henry Godwinn in a hog’s pen match. Triple H lost to lowly mid-carder and suffered a ton of embarrassment, and remains a dark spot in an otherwise great career.

As for HBK, In Your House’s greatest performer, he’s been in WWE Championship matches, European Championship matches and Hell in a Cell matches at this event. His iconic performances against the likes of Mankind, Diesel, British Bulldog and the Undertaker raised his stock as a performer.

Although they put on legendary performances at Royal Rumble’s, SummerSlam’s and WrestleMania’s, In Your House will always remain the B-grade PPV where Michaels and Triple H began their careers and became household names.

In fact, D-Generation X: In Your House, a special PPV dedicated to the faction aired twenty-four years ago on December 7th, 1997. On that night, Triple H defeated Sgt. Slaughter in a Boot Camp match, while HBK retained the WWE Championship against Ken Shamrock via disqualification. The New Age Outlaws also retained the tag team gold against the Legion of Doom by disqualification.

In Your House wouldn’t have been In Your House if not for a DX reunion. Shawn Michaels and Triple H walked out to DX’s music and welcomed the crowd to the PPV.

They rattled off a bunch of catchphrases and wrapped the whole thing up quickly. Given the based on NXT performers killing it in the ring, they kept the spotlight on them for a little while before leaving and letting the show run.
