Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock has always spoken highly of the Samoan Culture. Regardless of where he goes, what he does, he has always found a way to connect with his culture.

However, Johnson absolutely treasures the moments he gets to celebrate the culture with his mother Ata Johnson. On International Women’s Day, Johnson joined his mother in celebrating Samoan Culture with a traditional dance.

“As the woman dances her beautiful Taualuga, the men will honor and illuminate her by dancing (called the SIVA) around her as a show of great respect, love and Samoan pride.”

Two of the names that began this legacy was Rock’s grandfather High Chief Peter Maivia and Rock’s father Rocky Johnson. While they were successful during their time, it was Rock who changed the scenario.

He debuted as Rocky Maivia to pay a tribute to his grandfather and father. However, that character didn’t take off. He took a break and returned as The Rock. This is when his rise to fame began.

During his time with WWE, The Rock changed the face of the legacy. While several Samoan wrestlers joined the business, it was The Rock who created a fan base this vast.

Currently, his cousins Roman Reigns and The Usos are carrying forward the Samoan Wrestling Legacy in WWE. Additionally, Rock’s daughter Simone Johnson is supposedly debuting on WWE NXT soon.
