On the June 6, 1998 episode of Nitro, Goldberg challenged Hulk Hogan for the WCW Championship. The match went on for a little over 5 minutes and saw Goldberg walk out victorious as the new WCW Champion.

WWE uploaded a video of Goldberg’s first World championship victory, and the winning moment still feels surreal to watch.

In the ultimate moments of the match, Hogan banged Goldberg’s head on the steel railing at ringside, followed by a couple steel chair shots to the back. Hogan brought Goldberg back to the ring, hit a body slam and two of his patent leg drops, but Goldberg still kicked out!

Curt Hennig walked down to the ring but was followed by Diamond Dallas Page and NBA legend Karl Malone. Just as Hennig came ringside, Malone came up from behind and hit him with a smooth Diamond Cutter.

The sight distracted Hollywood Hogan. Diamond Dallas Page also made fun of him from outside.

Goldberg regrouped and hit Hogan with a Spear as soon as he turned around. He then followed it up with a Jackhammer to win his first World Championship!
