There are few friendships in WWE that fans root for. One such friendship is that of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. The former tag team partners took on almost anyone including the Tribal Chief himself as a team. After Nick Aldis became the new general manager of SmackDown things changed as Owens was transferred to the blue brand from the red brand. Since Owens’s transfer to SmackDown, there have been rumors that the friendship might be in jeopardy.
Are Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens breaking up?
At WWE Roanoke, Zayn was seen walking towards the ring while his entry music was being blasted in the background. As Zayn was walking, he saw Kevin Owens walking towards his side. The two stood there for a second and Owens decided to ignore his former tag-team partner to walk away. The former Honorary Uce was clearly affected by this when, suddenly, Owens decided to turn back to hug his friend. This led to an enormous cheer from the audience cementing the fact that the duo was not breaking up anytime soon.

The duo had started their career together. The Canadian stars have been tag team partners since Zayn’s time as El-Generico, a Lucha Libre gimmick he used during his time on the independent circuits. At the Philidelphia-based circuit called the Combat Zone Wrestling, the two stars broke out at the scene. It was the first time the two met.

Little did they know that this first chance meeting of theirs would turn into a lof-lomg tag team partnership.

The two stars broke out at the scene of Combat Zone Wrestling. Zayn went by the name of El-Generico which was a very popular gimmick of his. On the other hand, Kevin Owens used to go by his original name, Kevin Steen. The two were in a fatal-4-way esque match with the CZW star Sexxxy Eddy. After the two met each other, they kind of clicked and that’s where it all began.

The two almost instantaneously became a tag-team duo. Apart from being a fan favorite, the duo became the choice of independent circuits as well. They were usually called as a tag team and they were rarely called for a solo act. After trying to prove themselves as a dependable tag team, they finally made their debut at Rign Of Honor. Following brief stints here and there, the duo finally made their debut at WWE and has been an example of a lifelong friendship. Would you like to see them tag along once again for a match?
