It wasn’t long before Kingston and Woods took on Retribution’s Slapjack and T-Bar. Initially, Slapjack and T-Bar had the advantage. Soon after that, The New Day found their way back and took down Retribution while Ali watched from the ringside.
Winning his first match back via pinfall, Kingston had the perfect return to the squared circle.

There is a good chance WWE will continue to move forward with this storyline between the New Day and Retribution. Even though it’s an entire faction vs. a tag team, this will not be the first time the New Day is doing it.
Previously, the New Day feuded with the entire Hurt Business.
Why was Kofi Kingston absent from WWE?
Kofi Kingston had taken a brief break from the ring after he injured his neck at WWE TLC against The Hurt Business. Even though he attended Monday Night Raw after the incident, he had to step back in order to heal.

Kofi confirmed this news during an Instagram Live session.
”I gotta apologize because I feel like I’m talking out of the side of my mouth and I’m dealing with a jaw injury right now. My mouth is only closing on one side so if I sound kind of funny, that’s why. Ordinarily I do a lot of imitations, impersonations, and impressions, but I’m not doing that right now. I’m talking funny trying to figure this situation out.”
