The wait is finally over for CM Punk’s first match in the WWE after almost a decade-long wait. Fans have been dying to see the self-proclaimed ‘Best in the World’ get down and dirty in the ring. Since his return to WWE at the Survivor Series PLE, the hype around Punk has been on another level.

Not only did the hype sell more tickets, but the fans didn’t hesitate to show their love for the Chicago-based star by chanting his name as they filled Madison Square Garden.

For a pro wrestler, the biggest sign of making it is hearing the arena call your name. The passionate fans express their admiration for you by calling out your name at the top of their lungs. This is the case at MSG hours ahead of the highly anticipated show.

Social media was filled with videos taken at the venue that echoed the name of Punk. Fans kept chanting his name till the show began and even during the show. This was especially true during the Judgment Day match for the tag team titles.

Punk will be wrestling for the first time in nearly a decade in the WWE. His opponent will be Dominik Mysterio. The fans are excited, and you can hear it.

The ‘CM Punk’ chants have become a staple for the past month since his return. Not only is this done to showcase the love the fans have for Punk, but also to annoy whoever is in the ring. This mirrors the ‘What’ chant that Steve Austin made famous.

Fans not happy with the untelevised first match

While social media was filled with a plethora of videos with fans chanting Punk’s name, there were others who were not happy. Punk’s first match in the WWE has been something that fans have been excited about for a long time. However, instead of having the match on Monday Night RAW, the WWE went ahead with an untelevised live event.

Many complained that the were not able to watch the match from their homes or be part of the excitement without a WWE subscription. This irked fans, but since the match was against Dominik Mysterio, many fans did not care.
