Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a name that needs no introduction in the whole wide world. But, there was a time in the man’s life, when he wasn’t this insanely famous Hollywood star or even a professional wrestler.

There was a time when the ‘People’s Champ‘ had nothing but 7 bucks in his pocket and embarked on a journey he didn’t know would take him to the world’s greatest heights. Even after all the success, The Rock hasn’t forgotten those that played a vital role in it.

The wrestling world lost a gem in Pat Patterson earlier this month. The news came in as a shock and was legitimately a sad moment for fans. Moreover, it was an emotional moment for the wrestlers he had shaped over the years, including The Rock.

The ‘Great One’ took to Instagram last night and posted a special tribute video for Pat Patterson. In the video, The Rock spoke about Pat Patterson being a father-figure to him and his greatest mentors ever.

He also talked about Pat being a trailblazer and how he influenced the various generations of professional wrestling. The Rock said he was reconciled with Pat’s death all week.

He said, “He was so instrumental in my career. The truth is, and this is a hell of a statement to declare; I’m not quite too sure if I would be where I am at today had it not been for Pat Patterson. There’s defining moments in our lives where we’re like if that particular thing didn’t happen, I don’t know if the pathways and the dots would’ve connected.” The Rock continued.

The ‘Great One’ reminisced Pat Patterson’s great moments and raised a Teremana toast to the legend of the business. He said, “To Pat Patterson, I love you and I thank you for the wisdom. I thank you for the journey, I thank you for having faith and making that call for this punk kid and saying ‘Hey, you wanna take a look at this kid, and you wanna take a look at him now.’… You did it your way, cheers!”

Pat Patterson’s loss is immense for the wrestling world. There will be no one else like him, because not everyone is a Special Edition. Pat’s great wrestling mind and his wonderful personality made him everybody’s favorite. We hope his soul rests in peace wherever it is, as we tune in to ‘My Way’ by Frank Sinatra.
