The new episode of Monday Night RAW started out with Randy Orton opening the show to a massive pop. During his opening monologue, he talked about his close friend Cody Rhodes. Rhodes was the one who asked Orton to join his team for WarGames against the Judgment Day. While The American Nightmare did not appear during the segment, he did show up in a commercial right after it.

Rhodes has gained the reputation for opening most episodes of RAW, but with Orton’s return, it was better that he opened it.

During the last few years of Rhodes’ run in the WWE, he was Stardust. The gimmick was based on his brother’s gimmick, Goldust. Taking inspiration from children’s comic books, the character was a new chapter in Rhodes’s career. However, due to bad booking and lackluster matches, Rhodes grew tired of it.

Everyone who had watched the WWE before Rhodes left in 2016 knows about Stardust. This was a gimmick that Rhodes has said in multiple interviews he hated. The memory still haunts him despite it being almost a decade since he used the gimmick. His actions in this commercial seal the deal on how much Rhodes wants to forget that chapter in his life.

During a Christmas Commercial for the WWE, Rhodes made a hilarious move to ensure no one remembers Stardust. While showcasing the new lineup of action figures, the former AEW star hid Stardust’s action figure behind Roman Reign’s figure.

Rhodes made his feelings related to Stardust well known when he said, “Stardust had some milestones, and I did go into it committed to try and change it, but it wasn’t going to get me anywhere.” This showed that he knew that the character would get him nowhere in the WWE. This was taken from his interview with Dale Download with Dale Earnhardt Jr.
