On the latest episode of SmackDown, a clash between former WWE Champions, Asuka and Charlotte Flair took an unexpected turn, resulting in a reported injury to Flair. As the drama unfolded during a commercial break, the aftermath raised uncertainties about her future as well as the dynamics of SmackDown’s Women’s division.
Charlotte Flair sustained an injury during her match against Asuka. The referenced match took place on a recent episode of SmackDown in Providence, Rhode Island, which also served as a special edition for Tribute to the Troops.
The Queen faced Asuka in a singles match, reminiscent of their WrestleMania encounter when the unfortunate incident occurred. PWInsider reports, “During the commercial break in her match versus Asuka, Charlotte Flair was setting up for a move but slipped, getting caught on the ropes, wrenching her knee, and striking her head.”

The incident took place during the commercial break as Asuka prepared to execute a suplex from the top rope at the turnbuckle. However, during the move, Flair slipped, injuring the back of her left knee and falling on her head with Asuka. The mishap didn’t result in a dangerous situation, but it appears her knee suffered significant damage.
When the show resumed, both superstars were on the ground, with commentators suggesting that Asuka had taken out Flair during the break. As the match resumed, Flair appeared in discomfort, and with Bayley’s assistance, Asuka secured the win with a surprise roll-up. It remains uncertain if this was the intended ending or an improvisation.
Following the match, Asuka exited with Bayley, while officials escorted Flair for a routine medical evaluation. Although it hasn’t been confirmed whether she will join the extensive list of sidelined WWE superstars due to injury, the recent Friday drama raises questions about the direction of the Women’s Division on SmackDown.

What’s the road ahead for WWE in the Women’s Division?
Despite the anticipation of resolving the war between good and evil in the Women’s division through the Survivor Series WarGames match, individual battles persist, such as Flair’s confrontation with her long-time rival, Asuka.
However, Flair’s recent injury might sideline her, leaving Belair as the sole powerhouse against the heel stable Damage CTRL. The question arises: Who will step up to face them, aside from Shotzi? Could WWE potentially call Sasha Banks for a return at WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble?
