Is there any hidden motive for Cody Rhodes appearing on SmackDown tonight to help LA Knight out?

The Friday Night SmackDown reached its zenith with an intriguing fight between Jimmy Uso and LA Knight. The Megastar was able to launch revenge on Uso. This was after he cost him the desired Undefeated Universal Championship title against Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel. The match saw predictive interference from Solo Sikoa.

However, things became more dramatic after the match, when Sikoa and Uso turned on Knight post the match.

While on the surface, it was only Rhodes’ geniality towards the 40-year-old wrestler, it could also be Rhodes’ way of sliding into the title picture.

Rhodes has been vying to finish his story since his return to the promotion last year. But he missed his first shot against Reigns’ World Championship title at WrestleMania 39. Now, as WWE handed the next opportunity to Knight’s hand, a close association with Knight might have some connection with Rhodes building his way toward the title competition.

But could LA Knight take up Rhodes’s spot regardless in the long run?

LA Knight’s chances of taking Cody Rhodes’ spot

Everything is replaceable in pro wrestling. Currently, there’s a faint hope in the fan circles that the new hottest act of the promotion, LA Knight might replace The American Nightmare in a way.

Although the company put enough trust in him, elevating him to the level of fighting Roman Reigns for his prized title at Crown Jewel, there’s little to no chance for him to rise to that level to the main event in WrestleMania 40 replacing Cody Rhodes.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, Knight would need a “Becky Lynch/Daniel Bryan-type of groundswell” surge to even stand a chance of this happening.
