For four decades Vince McMahon was the captain of the massive ship known as WWE. He purchased the company from his father Vince McMahon Sr. when it was WWWF. McMahon Sr. wanted his son never to step foot in the wrestling business, instead, to do another job that had financial security. Once the 1-time WWE champion revealed the same in an interview.

A long time ago, Vince McMahon sat for an interview with Playboy Magazine in 2001. He shared that Vince McMahon Sr. wanted him to work outside the wrestling industry.
Vinnie-Mac said, “I loved wrestling from the day I saw it. The characters! But my dad was pragmatic. He remembered the bad years he’d had. He’d say, ‘Get a government job, so you can have a pension.’” (H/T talkSPORT)
However, McMahon has also shared telling his father about becoming a wrestler. McMahon Sr. had his own concerns about his son entering the business and not succeeding, but things went differently later.
The McMahons have been in the world of wrestling since the early 1900s as Vince’s grandfather Jess McMahon was also a pro wrestling and boxing promoter. Obviously, Vince McMahon eagerly wanted to become a wrestling promoter. Therefore, he went to Bangor, Maine, where McMahon Sr. sent him giving an opportunity to be a wrestling promoter.
McMahon said, “I went to Bangor, the northernmost outpost of my dad’s territory. Now I’m hustling, promoting a product I love. People cheer and boo and have a good time – and I leave with some money in my pocket. Goddamn, life is good!”
Nevertheless, the father-son duo had a common interest, which was more than professional wrestling, i.e. building a business. Vince McMahon Sr. started the WWWF, which later was taken upon by his son, who took the company to different heights by renaming it WWF/WWE.
Earlier in July this year, Mr. McMahon retired from all of his roles in WWE. Stephanie McMahon, a fourth-generational wrestling promoter of the McMahon family, is the new CEO.
Vince McMahon once wanted to buy Playboy
Former WCW top official Eric Bischoff on his podcast 83 weeks in 2020 talked about Vince McMahon’s interest to buy Playboy once. He recalled this by sharing a story of setting a meeting and Linda McMahon showed up instead of Mr. McMahon.
Bischoff said, “I hooked up Joe Francis and WWE to do a show/pay-per-view. I set up a meeting with Joe Francis and Linda McMahon because Vince was interested in buying Playboy and Joe Francis was also interested in buying Playboy for different reasons.”

It was odd why McMahon was interested in expanding his business there. However, the exact reason hasn’t been known by anyone regarding the same.
