As we reported earlier, WWE has released a new controversial order for its employees. The company has ordered everyone to cease any third party app deals within 30 days. The order and a letter from Vince McMahon went public on Thursday. CM Punk, among many others, had some things to say about it.

First things first, in the letter, Vince said WWE not only owns the ring names but also the real names of the wrestlers! As revealed by Wrestling Inc., the letter said,

“Furthering my comments last Sunday regarding the reinvention of our product, it is imperative that we promote and protect our brand in every conceivable way. Some of you are engaged with outside 3rd parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company.”

If the requirements are not fulfilled, wrestlers could get fined, suspended, and even fired! The wrestlers are under the “independent contractor” category.

If implemented, the performers will lose a source of income. Wrestlers like Xavier Woods, Big E, Tyler Breeze, Lana, and Natalya have a huge following on apps like Twitch, Cameo, and TikTok.

CM Punk has some choice words for Vince McMahon

After the letter became public, past wrestlers weighed in on the controversy. Speaking of controversy and WWE, CM Punk can’t be missed. He is still dissing Vince McMahon to this day over many WWE decisions.

The iconic wrestler and former WWE host Renee Young (now Paquette) got into a hilarious Twitter banter over the order. The thread started with Renne saying she might start Cameo and Twitch as she left the company after WWE SummerSlam.

In a different thread, a fan asked CM Punk if WWE owns his name as well.

CM Punk replied that he can’t be owned by anyone.
