Following AEW’s recent success, Tony Khan’s company is proving to be a competition for WWE. Several former WWE superstars have commented on AEW in the past. And most recently, former WWE champion John Cena commented on AEW.

During a recent episode of the Pardon My Take Podcast, John Cena was asked whether he watches AEW and whether he feels competition is good in terms of both products raising each other up.

Addressing this question, Cena answered that he has not watched AEW, but he thinks the competition is great. Further, Cena talks about the internal competition within WWE.

Cena said, “I haven’t watched AEW. I think competition is great. There’s internal competition within WWE about performers wanting to be champions or performers wanting to be headliners. I think whenever there’s more buzz around an industry, it’s good for the industry.”

The former WWE Champion thinks competition brings out the best from an individual. He said, “Because you know, if your segments are not going to be good, your performance is not going to be good, you may not have a future with the company.”

He also mentioned that, as a performer, he always wanted to do his best. John Cena is undoubtedly one of the greatest professional wrestlers in the world. And his legacy in WWE will forever be special. Also, there is a lot more to come from Cena in the future.

AEW superstar MJF gave reference to John Cena during his feud with CM Punk

Former WWE superstar CM Punk is currently signed to AEW. Punk is involved in a heated feud with MJF at the moment in AEW.

During a segment on AEW Dynamite, MJF fired a shot at Punk by referencing John Cena and Triple H indirectly.

MJF took a dig at Punk by claiming Punk has always been second best in his career, whether it was to John Cena or Triple H. He did not take Cena’s name directly but referred to him as the ‘You can’t see me man.’

John Cena and CM Punk shared a great rivalry in WWE. The two battled several matches against each other and produced a thriller contest almost every time.
