Vince McMahon certainly isn’t a fan favorite when it comes to his involvement in WWE creative. Hence his return to the business, earlier this year made fans utterly skeptical about whether his notorious creative ideas will be into play again. They got furious when their doubt came out real with Vince forcing his way back into the creative through his masterstroke WWE sale. Nevertheless, the latest update on this might come to the relief of fans. Because it says Vince isn’t back exactly as fans may have thought earlier. Yes, you heard it right. At least his creative sway doesn’t sound legit anymore.

Ever since Roman Reigns successfully retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on Night 2 of WrestleMania 39, fans started to speculate on his next challenge. The Tribal Chief might come out victorious against Cody Rhodes, but he will have many threats in line with the first coming at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. While the opponent is still unknown, it seems like WWE will offer him an impressive challenger given that it will mark Reigns’ historic 1000-day title run.

A recent report from Wrestle Vote suggests the current executive director Vince McMahon dropped a lot of names as his choices as potential opponents for Roman Reigns. But much to everyone’s surprise, his ideas couldn’t please the company higher-ups.

The source said, “Vince McMahon has pitched several ideas for Roman Reigns’ next challenger. A few of them were scoffed at as in that doesn’t make any sense.”

The report further stated that the Tribal Chief’s opponent for the Night of Champions will come to light after Backlash 2023.

Vince McMahon was back in creative following the UFC-WWE merger

McMahon’s once again rose to headlines when WWE and UFC merged as a part of the $21 billion Endeavor deal. It served McMahon not only financially, but also brought his creative control back within the company. Endeavor’s CEO Ari Emanuel kept Vince in creative leadership, something that got clearer after the Raw after WrestleMania episode, which fans disapproved of.

The show saw a number of last-minute rewrites along with some other mishaps in storylines due to McMahon’s direct control over the creative.

There was major backlash coming from the fans ever since his return to the creative has been confirmed. People wondered how heavily Vince McMahon can inject his influence into the company and for how long.

Finally, the speculation and discussion, at last, came to a comforting end, getting the assurance of Vince’s less to no control over the creative after the company rejected his pitching ideas.

While the news is clear enough to make us believe in Vince’s weakened sway, we need to wait for more updates to be more sure of his complete absence from the creative.
