Tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW has come to its conclusion but the best thing about pro-wrestling is that it never fails to provide content for fans even after the live taping is done. And one such moment came after the conclusion of tonight’s edition of the red brand.
After Cody Rhodes defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a bull rope match, Drew McIntyre launched a vicious assault. It was McIntyre’s revenge for what occurred earlier tonight as Rhodes saved Seth Rollins from an assault. With Nakamura joining hands with the Scotsman on the attack, Sami Zayn came to the rescue. After saving the American Nightmare, he felt the need to address something that had plagued his mind for a while. He did it once the show went off-air.

After the end of Raw, Sami Zayn took the mic as he stood in the ring to address the crowd. Zayn talked about the ongoing #WeWantCody movement. Zayn can be heard saying, “A lot of people have been talking about you this week…A lot of bigots and a lot of guys back there (locker room) probably have a lot that they’re gonna say to you. But the truth is, it doesn’t matter what they have to say to you. it doesn’t even matter what I think or what I have to say to you. What matters is what they (fans) have to say to you. And I’m pretty sure they’ve got three words for you that I’ve been hearing all week online… Three words that you kept screaming before the show even started. Cody, I think these people have three words for you: (the fans chant “WE WANT CODY”)”

He said, “I have always wanted you, I love you guys so much, I’m sorry I’m an emotional mess”. He stated how he always wanted this growing up, wanting the support, wishing to have fans who’ll love him and finally, he is overwhelmed by the love that he has received.

This is iconic as even earlier tonight Michael Cole too addressed the movement as he questioned on commentary if there will be a change in the matchup after the constant pressure by fans and fellow WWE superstars. Cody Rhodes will be present at Thursday’s press conference in which The Rock and Roman Reigns will have a face-to-face. The match between the two at WrestleMania 40 could be made official in this press conference and we’ll see if Cody has anything to say about it.
