It was a busy day for college basketball player Angel Reese on April 2. The LSU forward not only helped the Tigers win the national championship against the Iowa Hawkeyes, but also kicked off a debate with her gesture. During the fag end of the championship, Reese did WWE superstar John Cena’s famous hand gesture. The taunt was aimed at Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clarke, who had earlier done the “You Can’t See Me” move.

Just a week later, a Division 1 softball player has taken fancy to the famed gesture that was born as part of a dare.

On April 8, Auburn softball won 7-0 against Florida in the series finale, largely due to the efforts of Bri Ellis, who hit her 10th home run of the season.

According to a clip shared by her team, Ellis hits a homerun and completes a run and then goes towards the dugout while performing the ‘You Can’t See Me’ move.

The team also tagged John Cena on Twitter and asked the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star how she performed.

Earlier in the month, Angel Reese received flak for doing the gesture at the championship game. Her team won 102-85 against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

American Blogger Dave Portnoy, sports commentator Keith Olbermann and many others trashed the move as ‘classless’.

Meanwhile, Reese got love from Tony Yayo, the originator of the move. For the unversed, John Cena may have popularized the gesture, but it originally belonged to a song from the famous rapper.

Cena has himself admitted the story multiple times.

‘You Can’t See Me’ got John Cena dragged to US political mess

Former US President Donald Trump has hit the headlines again. This time, the billionaire is facing several charges relating to payments he made before his 2016 campaign. Trump, as usual, has pleaded not guilty.

One of Trump’s supporters, Vernon Jones, took to Twitter on April 6 to send a message to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

He said, “DA Bragg, the Dist. Attorney from New York, Manhattan, I got a message for you from President Trump.” He followed it with Cena’s signature ‘You Can’t See Me’ gesture, adding, “You got it.”

Needless to say, the 16x World Champion’s popular move has transcended boundaries and has acquired a spot in pop culture. Part of it is due to the ease with which one can do it. All it requires is flexing all five fingers and shuffling in front of the face.
