The success of WWE was primarily down to its former head honcho, Vince McMahon. In 2022, the company bagged a total revenue of US$1.3 billion, which is seemingly a benchmark to achieve for many other competitors. Since the Stamford-based promotion is now under the TKO Group Holdings, fans started speculating about the prospects of Vince McMahon.

After reports emerged of McMahon selling a third of his TKO shares fans began to wonder whether the 78-year-old would start another wrestling promotion. But a veteran wrestling journalist tried to give them a reality check by putting a different opinion.

Recently on X, Dave Meltzer responded to a fan who had a somewhat interesting idea in his mind. Responding to a user asking whether McMahon could start a rival promotion, another user chimed in and said that McMahon could “easily do it again”. Meltzer addressed the idea and gave an unambiguous response to it.

He wrote, “Not a chance. He’s got a $1.3 billion and a $160 million a year competitor and all the top talent is locked up contractually except Punk.” One of the most prominent wrestling journalists, Meltzer, told it like it was and said Vince McMahon had very little chance of launching another wrestling promotion. In his tweet, he referred to AEW and WWE who arguably have all the top talent under contract with the exception of a certain former WWE Champion.

Well, the fact that McMahon would be having competition in the guise of AEW and his own brainchild, WWE, would surely make things tough for him.
