Hulk Hogan was not only one of the biggest celebrities in North America, but also popular worldwide. Hogan’s reach was so wide, it also reached the Japanese market, all the way to the East. But Hogan wasn’t the only wrestler to make it big around the world. During the Golden Age of wrestling, when Vince McMahon brought down the territories, many wrestlers became mega-stars in different countries.

Britain and American wrestlers were the only ones traveling to other places, and the prime destination was Japan. From Vader to AJ Styles, everyone made their mark on Japanese soil and came out better than ever. But for Hogan, it wasn’t much about wrestling but advertising over in the East.

While Arnold was popular because of his Terminator and Predator movies, one might think, why did Japanese businesses approach Hogan?

For one thing, Hogan also wrestled in NJPW for a little while. He had a dream match against the Great Muta, which NJPW promoted the heck out of. Also, Hogan was always on the road when working for WWE. So, he might have had some connections to grab some pocket money from businesses in Japan. He wasn’t the only one who was looking for some extra cash, though. There were many celebrities featured in Japanese commercials, whether that be soft drinks or soaps.
