Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a small man. The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner can give any bodybuilder a run for his money with his massive physique and enviable musculature. However, when there are other mighty men like Dwayne Johnson in the equation, fans may naturally wonder – who is bulkier? Maybe this lovable Hollywood star, who is friends with the ‘Austrian Oak’, gave his verdict. Interestingly, Johnson is bigger, he claimed!

Danny DeVito, who starred alongside Schwarzenegger on ‘Twins’, reportedly said once in 2019 that Schwarzenegger was “smaller” than wrestling’s own ‘Rock’. At the time, Johnson and DeVito were working together with Kevin Hart on ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’.

Why did DeVito call Johnson bigger?

While in Mexico to promote the film, DeVito said, “I think Dwayne is bigger, you know? But they’re both packed with muscle. You can’t get any more muscle into those frames.” Fans might agree with DeVito’s assessment. Johnson recently posted an image on Instagram from behind-the-scenes of his upcoming project, ‘Black Adam’.

Johnson, with his mantra, “Hardest Worker in the Gym”, is dedicated to his fitness regimen. Fans are by now more than aware of the amount of effort that the ‘People’s Champion’ puts into maintaining his rocky figure. The question now becomes, is DeVito right? Is Dwayne Johnson more bulky than the Terminator himself?

Dwayne Johnson v. Schwarzenegger: Who wins in the end?

DeVito’s comparison may be unfair; After all, Schwarzenegger is 75 years old, while Johnson is just 50. However, both superstars have consistently maintained a bulky physique throughout their lives, and this makes the comparison easier. When looking at Johnson’s present physique and Schwarzenegger’s physique at age 50, the answer seems amply clear that Johnson wins by a mile. The ‘Brahma Bull’ has kept in top shape ever since ‘Fast Five’ in 2011.

However, the three-count for pinfall has not struck one yet, and Arnold still offers the most solid competition for the Rock in terms of musculature. The former Governor of California retired from bodybuilding in 1980 after his seventh and final Mr. Olympia win, but he has not retired from pumping iron yet. The ‘Austrian Oak’ still works out consistently for an hour and a half daily, and maintains a strict diet and fitness routine.

DeVito also elaborated about both tough guys by saying, “They’re both the sweetest guys you’d ever want to work with, so if you get a chance to work with some big, giant-a** guy, do it.” Notably, it seems like both the Rock and ole’ Schwarzenegger have never let their similarities as fitness enthusiasts-cum-actors impede their professionalism and charm. There are still some lessons we can learn from these cultural icons, and this is one of them.
