WWE and Chelsea Green found themselves in a bizarre back and forth regarding her name. Chelsea Green was fighting for the rights of her birth name – “Chelsea Green”.
Green was released from the company earlier this year in April, and WWE planned on keeping a trademark to her name with them so that she cannot use the name – “Chelsea Green” under any other wrestling promotion.

Since her release, Green is actively working for IMPACT Wrestling and Ring of Honor (ROH) under her birth name which she used in WWE as well.

Chelsea Green can keep using her name as WWE plans on releasing the trademark
Reportedly, WWE contacted Chelsea Green on Sunday night to inform her that they were going to release the trademark on her name and she can use it elsewhere.
However, it was not as easy as it seems. As noted by Essentially Sports, Green was trying to get her trademark back from her previous employer; however, WWE did not budge and insisted to not release it.

Since her release, Green made her comeback in IMPACT Wrestling and worked several matches for the promotion.
She is also scheduled to be at NWA EmPowerrr main event on August 28. Furthermore, she is contributing in the commentary department for Ring of Honor this week as well.

For now, it seems like Green just got the rights for her name back and she can easily use it under any wrestling promotion of her choosing. It was a bizarre scenario because the wrestling companies take certain steps to ensure jurisdiction over characters they craft.

Many fans still believe that Green knew what she was signing up for when she joined WWE.
