Colin Kaepernick has been in the news off late as Dwayne Johnson expressed his desire to sign the quarterback to the XFL. As Kaepernick is still to make his final decision, Johnson isn’t keeping his hopes too high. But as this deal is still trying to find a closure, another forgotten NFL player once took a huge pay cut and joined the XFL purely for family.

This player has now been signed back to the NFL after a great season with the XFL in 2022.

The XFL is a professional American football minor league consisting of eight teams. They are a minnow in comparison to the sports entertainment giant the NFL which consists of 32 teams. The NFL hosts the Super Bowl every year which is the biggest sporting event in all of North America. That said, the XFL has already had two successful seasons under its belt. It provides a solid stage for a lot of college football athletes to prove their mettle on the field.

While Johnson is trying hard to sign famed quarterback Colin Kaepernick for an unusually high amount, quarterback A. J. McCarron took a huge pay cut last year while joining the XFL’s St. Louis BattleHawks. McCarron signed a contract with the XFL for a little over $60,000, a huge drop from the $4 million he received when he was with the Houston Texans in 2020.

But the main reason for him joining the XFL was so he could get a chance to play. Thus giving his kids a chance to see him on live TV. McCarron spent six years as a backup in the NFL between 2014 and 2020. Post that he injured his knee in a 2021 pre-season game and sat out the entire season. He then joined the XFL in 2022 and had a successful season. Now, two weeks ago, he was signed by the NFL team the Cincinnati Bengals for this season. Johnson was ecstatic for him and took to Twitter to congratulate his signing back to the NFL. But talking about going back to the NFL, Kaepernick might just snub The Rock’s offer and go back to the NFL after Aaron Rodgers’ recent comments.

New York Jets star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ might be out the entire season due to his Achilles injury. But while he is out, he is still making his presence felt by commenting on the poor performance of his team.

In response to those comments, Colin Kaepernick has written a letter to the New York Jets offering his services to the team. He said he would be honored to join the team and lead the practice squad.
