At Hell in a Cell 2021, Bobby Lashley defends the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre. Drew won the opportunity to face Lashley after beating Kofi Kingston in last week’s stellar main event. But was the contract signing stellar, or did it assimilate with the mediocrity of Monday Night Raw?

The challenger walked out first, bringing his trusty sword to the contract signing. The champion made the challenger wait, although his fashionable lateness added nothing to the contract signing segment. He eventually emerged, along with his entourage of beautiful women, and MVP.

Lashley looked visibly tired at seeing Drew McIntyre’s face. He’s faced him at WrestleMania, on Raw and then again at WrestleMania Backlash. He put it out there that if he beat Drew at Hell in a Cell, he would never get another shot at the WWE Championship as long as he’s champion.

While the champion said what desperately needed to be said right after WrestleMania, Drew McIntyre had his demands. “I want Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship inside Hell in a Cell.”

The champion agreed and claimed he’d beat McIntyre inside the cell as well.

Since he probably didn’t get a cake for his birthday over the weekend, McIntyre cut the table in half. He destroyed it with his sword, proving once and for all that swords have their place at a contract signing.

After a rivalry that stretched over four months even though it had no right to, we’re finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Lashley vs McIntyre wasn’t a bad feud by any stretch of the imagination. However, McIntyre needs something different for his stale character.

Bobby Lashley is a phenomenal WWE Champion. He’s a good heel with a superb manager and his presentation as Raw’s biggest Superstar has made every other talent look like a chump. That includes Drew, who has chased the title he lost unfairly (thanks to Lashley) all the way in February.

At the contract signing, McIntyre claimed he’s still carrying the effects of his first cell match. No wonder, because that feud with Orton also stretched for a bizarre amount of time. The All Mighty needs to hold on to the WWE Championship at Hell in a Cell, while McIntyre can rebuild himself by slipping down the card.
