Shawn Michaels ended his career in front of 72,000 people at WrestleMania 26 after losing to The Undertaker. After eight years, he decided to make a comeback to wrestling with Triple H to face The Undertaker and Kane in a tag-team match. What made Mr. WrestleMania come back has been the question that everyone wants an answer to, and finally, we have one.
The third chapter of The Undertaker’s documentary, ‘The Last Ride’, has Shawn talking about what made him come out of retirement. The HeartBreak Kid explained that being in the ring with Triple H and Undertaker was comfortable and that it sounded fun. The trio got into talks and was determined to give it one last shot.
“You know hunter and Taker and all that, being out there with those guys was just a comfortable thing. So, it’s like hell that I can do, that sounds like fun, and we were talking about doing it, encouraged about doing it,” Michaels said.

Shawn Michaels surely regrets his decision now. The match at Crown Jewel was a disaster, undoubtedly one of the worst events of that year. The performance of all four wrestlers was sloppy, turning what was supposed to be a match for the ages into an absolute train-wreck.

Every superstar wants to go out the perfect way, and not many have ever had the honor of doing so. Shawn Michaels does not fall under that category as he had the perfect ending. As The Undertaker so eloquently put it, “The John Elway Ending.”

Michaels did have some matches left in him, however, he put everything on the line in his match with Taker. Decoding the situation, it all makes sense. It was the first time that the main event of WrestleMania had a retirement at hand.

Shawn was always very vocal about his desire to spend time with his family post-retirement. Perhaps, Shawn could have stayed retired.
Wrestling fans loved the way he went out, and no one wants to remember about the time he came back. With everything said and done Shawn Michaels is still and always will a legend of mythical proportions.
