Is Uncle Howdy's VHS tape gimmick a genius move or just outdated nonsense in today's WWE?

Uncle Howdy and Wyatt 6 are currently the hottest wave that is surfing in the landscape of the WWE. Fans are eagerly awaiting the time when this eerie faction will enter the ring for a match. Fans have high expectations for the Uncle Howdy persona since they have seen Bo Dallas perform well in that capacity. Moreover, they have seen him perform splendidly in the ring in both NXT and the main roster in his previous stint.

Although fans want to see the Wyatt 6 in the ring, it appears like WWE has trapped itself with the booking of this faction. The reason for this is obvious: losing is not an option for the group right now, and continuing to win every match would make other superstars seem terrible. This will cause other superstars to lose a significant amount of value and momentum.

WWE veteran Jim Cornette touched upon this aspect as he recently discussed the subject on his YouTube channel. He said that his ideas about the group are rather concerning since he believes that Uncle Howdy and Wyatt 6 would hinder the momentum of the other wrestlers and stop the fan following they were gaining before their encounter. He related this circumstance to Bray Wyatt and LA Knight, alleging that the same thing happened when these two great superstars faced off against one other.

Cornette’s co-host stated, “Once these five people start squashing wrestlers that the fans care about, it’s going to be a problem again because that’s what it did. No one could. Bray Wyatt killed babyfaces dead with the exception of LA Knight. Cornette then objected to the point by saying, “Actually, no, no, honestly, he killed the LA Knight so dead that the fans felt sorry for him and resurrected him. You know what that is.”

But does this view hold weight considering that the group has only recently debuted? Let’s explore the possibility.

Could WWE encounter the same Bray Wyatt booking problem with Uncle Howdy & Co?

Although this is a possibility, nothing has been established as to what the promotion plans to do with the scary faction in the future. WWE can make a lot of adjustments in the booking decision to accommodate certain storylines, feuds, and superstars. WWE has already set the stage for the Wyatt 6 and Uncle Howdy by inserting the group with stars that have little momentum but a lot of potential. Wrestlers who have a lot of potential will be given some TV time, and this will be a generally winning stage for both the promotion and the wrestlers.

Furthermore, we have seen how the Stamford-based promotion has prioritized long-term booking to reap the rewards of what they sow. Even now, we have yet to fully understand the intent and motives of the Wyatt Sick6. The WWE Universe has only gotten a small dose of lore for the aforementioned group. So it would be wise to wait until the full picture is revealed before judging. Nevertheless, the wrestling promotion will also have to tread lightly in order to not waste the momentum of all superstars involved in a program with the Wyatt Sicks6.
