Two wrestling stars who reacted to the fight were former superstar Carlito and the future of AEW, Sammy Guevara. While Carlito’s influence in MMA is relatively obscure, we know Sammy Guevara loves the UFC. The Inner Circle member appeared at UFC 261 in Miami to witness Kamaru Usman beat Jorge Masvidal.

Carlito cited a wrestling term and applied it to Diaz, claiming he looked good even in defeat. His analysis is apt, as Diaz came out of that fight more popular than when he walked into it. He had his doubters, but Diaz proved them wrong with a superb performance in his first fight for two years.

Guevara also praised Diaz, calling him ‘the GOAT’. Let’s see what’s next for Guevara, alongside AEW’s GOAT Chris Jericho. Will Guevara rise to the level of a Jericho or Diaz, or will he remain a mid-carder in AEW?

At AEW Double or Nothing, Sammy Guevara picked up the biggest win of his lifetime. Stadium Stampede ended with Guevara pinning Shawn Spears off a beautiful 630 splash after surviving multiple chair shots from the Chairman.

Even though the win was definitive, the faction warfare hasn’t ended. Chris Jericho and MJF haven’t settled their differences, and a singles match between the two could be coming. However. if there’s any man who should come out of this feud looking like a bed of roses, it is Sammy.

MJF and Guevara are the future of AEW, and they’re guaranteed future AEW World Champions. Ideally a singles rivalry between Guevara and MJF would make sense, given how MJF got him kicked out of the Inner Circle. However, the future may hold a different path to success for the young Texan.
