It’s undeniable that The Beast Incarnate rarely appeared weak while facing off against his opponent. And Velasquez succeeded in topping him. In his book Death Clutch, where he shared various stories about his life from the beginning, Lesnar discussed his loss against Velasquez at UFC 121 and explained why he lost.
Brock Lesnar reveals why Cain Velasquez prevailed against him that night
For those who don’t follow, at UFC 121 in 2010, Cain Velasquez defeated Lesnar in the opening round to put an end to his dominance. During the fight, Velasquez trapped a bleeding Lesnar and pummeled him mercilessly. In his book, Lesnar explained why he lost to the UFC legend, plain and simple.
He stated, “Why did I lose that night? Plain and simple. On that night, in that arena, Cain Velasquez was a better fighter than I was. There’s an old expression about falling off a horse. You get back on, and you ride that bad boy into town. I’m not saying I’m happy about losing the UFC title, but I am saying it helped me focus again on how much I want to be champion.”

According to Lesnar, his defeat made him refocus on how badly he wanted to win and fueled his fire. However, after that, unfortunately, he was unable to succeed in the UFC. Even though he defeated Mark Hunt, the final result was a tie for a number of reasons.

However, The Beast Incarnate ultimately prevailed over the former UFC Champion in their 2019 WWE Championship match at the Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia, nine years after they first faced off in a UFC fight.
