CM Punk has Fascinating Suggestions on MMA Judging

In recent years, UFC’s judging system has been under fire. The 3 judge rating system just isn’t settling with fans, who feel that there needs to be a change. CM Punk agrees with this.

In a recent statement on Twitter, former WWE Champion CM Punk expressed this view. He mentions his alternative to the current scoring system as you can see below.

For those who aren’t well versed with UFC, here’s a brief idea of the situation.

A 10-9 must system means that at the end of each round, three judges will score the fighters. The winner will be scored 10, and the loser will be scored 9 or less depending on the fight.

If one fighter totally dominates the other, the scores will be 10-8 respectively. To sum up, scores can either be 10-9, or 10-8 for a round.

CM Punk prefers veteran fighters as judges of the duels

Over the past few years, a lot of fans as well as veteran fighters have had a lot of issues with this system. The root cause of this can be attributed to some pretty controversial decisions over fight winners.

Many of the judges are not experienced with the fighting part of the match, and the end result is always helter-skelter. Fans have been calling for change for months now.

CM Punk has joined that cause and is advocating for a new system to be introduced by the State Commissioning bodies who sanction the fights.

Punk suggests that the current judges must be replaced by veteran UFC fighters who know the physical aspect of a fight inside-out. They will be the best judge of the fight because they truly know the art of it.

There is also a wide calling to increase the number of judges for a fight. Many fans feel that three judges aren’t enough and that there needs to be a larger variety of opinions.

Will UFC take this up and push to make the change? We do not know yet, but it surely can’t keep going this way.  The more blatant these controversies become, the more criticism the company will get from fans.
