In recent memory, fans have viewed The Visionary as a face. However, his past is riddled with betrayals. The most infamous of his betrayals is from 2014 when he turned on his stablemates, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Before the three went their separate ways and Roman Reigns became the Undisputed Champion, they were the most dominant faction in wrestling history, The Shield.

While the trio started as heels, they quickly ended up becoming fan favorites and were declared as faces. However, everything changed on the June 2, 2014 episode of Raw. Rollins decided to turn on his brothers and attacked Reigns and Ambrose with a steel chair and sided with the Authority.

While he had betrayed other stars in the past, this betrayal had scarred WWE fans for life as this was something that no one saw coming. Due to this, while he might have good intentions with Rhodes, fans are still doubtful about whether he might double-cross Rhodes in the future or not.

However, his history might not be enough to explain why he might betray him. A few words said by Rollins about American Nightmare might give us a glimpse of what is yet to come.

Seth Rollins might not be fond of Cody Rhodes

After he returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, the first WWE star Rhodes faced was Rollins. He was introduced as a surprise opponent and everyone including Rollins was shocked. However, in January 2023, Rollins opened up about how he felt about Cody Rhodes’ return. He said, “The only disrespect I had for Cody Rhodes was that he tried to come in and steal my spotlight. I shouldn’t say ‘tried to steal it.’ He tried to use my spotlight to catapult himself to where he wanted to go.”
