The WWE Universe has lately been getting its wishes granted when it comes to the bookings of LA Knight. The 40-year-old WWE Superstar has almost instantly acquired celebrity status and is over with the crowd. Interestingly, his popularity has also granted him another shot at the WWE Championship against Roman Reigns.

LA Knight had lost his previous bout against The Tribal Chief because of interference from The Bloodline. But, with Royal Rumble offering Knight a fatal four-way match, he stands a greater chance to clinch the belt. However, despite this added advantage, he will likely lose again. In fact, two big reasons will prevent him from becoming the new WWE Champion.

Cody Rhodes has to finish the story

Cody Rhodes has obtained a lot of love and respect with the WWE Universe in the last two years. This is clearly evident from all the online popularity polls he has been winning so far. Fans were very disappointed when they saw The American Nightmare lose to Roman Reigns due to bloodline interference at WrestleMania 39, and now, they really want to see him complete his story.

This can be a problem for LA Knight. Triple H has garnered a lot of goodwill among fans but that may be diminished should Rhodes’ story go unfinished. This means if Knight beats Reigns at the Rumble, then Rhodes will have to beat him at WrestleMania to become the champ undermining the years worth of build. It will also make LA Knight a mere transitional champion and an afterthought it the fans eyes.

Thus, it is imperative that LA Knight lose the fatal four-way and wait for another opportunity later on. While Rhodes finishing the story is reason enough for Knight to not win, that isn’t the only reason that will prevent him from lifting the WWE title.

LA Knight is better suited for a secondary championship

While LA Knight has a whole lifetime of experience when it comes to pro wrestling, he hasn’t spent much time on the main roster. Moreover, he hasn’t won a single championship belt so far. Having him beat their most dominant champion in the modern era is a bit of a leap even for the most ardent LA Knight fans.

To directly give him the WWE Championship is thus, not very feasible at the moment. However, LA Knight can definitely have a shot at other championship belts. For starters, he can take on Logan Paul for his United States Championship at WrestleMania and begin his championship journey as a US Champ.
