The universe works in mysterious ways. Often, kindness or an act of goodwill doesn’t get reciprocated. Take the example of Dwayne Johnson, one of Hollywood’s biggest names today. The 51-year-old actor made the headlines for his kind gesture two months ago, by contributing a substantial amount to agitating writers. But the SAG-AFTRA strike has now come back to hurt the wrestler-turned-actor.
As per the latest reports, Johnson and a few other big names have been snubbed by the industry due to the ongoing strike. Let’s find out more about the development.

Apart from acting in movies, Johnson is also a budding entrepreneur and has interests in various fields. By virtue of these interests, Johnson owns a production company- Seven Bucks Productions. The 2012 founded production company has been instrumental in producing several of Johnson’s acclaimed movies, cementing its reputation in Hollywood.
However, Seven Bucks Productions has faced a hurdle recently. As per an article by The Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal’s Universal Studios Group has suspended work with Johnson’s production company. Universal has followed suit and joined other houses in stalling work amid the ongoing strike, which officially started on July 14.
Among the others to be impacted by Universal’s decision is Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. The strike resulted from the July 13 no-deal between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. It stemmed from an ongoing labor dispute as many demanded better contracts and the diminished use of Artificial Intelligence.
Meanwhile, the $800-million rich Johnson has been left hamstrung despite his philanthropic work that was lauded in July.

The Jumanji actor responded to a letter from Courtney B. Vance, president of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, who wrote to 2,700 of the most influential Hollywood celebs.

This generosity didn’t go unappreciated as a 38-year-old actress took to X to laud Johnson. Meggan Anderson said Johnson’s donation would enable her to pay bills and help thousands of others, who are taking part in the protest.
But two months after his generous deed, Johnson now finds himself on the verge of losing millions of dollars as work has been stalled. Meanwhile, fans would be hoping for a fix as the longevity of the strike could further cripple Hollywood.
