In 2019, Dwayne Johnson bagged the lead role in the Baywatch movie, an adaptation of the 1989 TV series. The action/comedy film garnered a lot of attention, not only due to its iconic original source but also because of Dwayne Johnson’s star power. Although Johnson was the only WWE star to be featured in the film, he was not the first in the franchise.
In fact, a very popular former WWE star was featured in an episode titled “Galaxy Girls” in Baywatch twenty years before Dwayne Johnson clinched his role. The female star in question is none other than the WWE Hall of Famer, Torrie Wilson.

Taking to Instagram, Torrie Wilson posted a clip from a particular scene where she is seen posing with the legendary actor, George Hamilton. Wilson expressed how excited she was when she learned she had been selected for the role in the season 9 episode. She also relayed that it was her “first gig” when she moved to LA.
She wrote, “In 1999 I got my first official gig. I had just moved to L.A. and landed a role in an episode of @baywatchtv. Season 9’s “Galaxy Girls” with the legendary.”
The episode was centered on the “Miss Galaxy Contest,”, which, interestingly, Wilson had won previously in 1999. It was after she won the contest that she was signed to WCW. Wilson also revealed that she had her own trailer on set. In addition, the legendary diva had bagged a speaking role in the film, much to the chagrin of other girls.

The 2019 Baywatch movie featured well-known actors as part of its cast. However, despite its popularity and the cast, the film failed at the box office. With a budget of $69 million, excluding marketing and distribution costs, the film grossed $177 million worldwide. Off-topic, another former WWE star recently exuded Baywatch vibes by doing a photo shoot in a red Baywatch bathing suit.
Even though Baywatch received unfavorable critiques, its cast continues to contribute to its status as an iconic film. Shifting focus, Torrie Wilson entered Vince McMahon’s organization in 2001, a period when Dwayne Johnson was enjoying the pinnacle of his career.
Despite being in the same company, The Rock and Torrie Wilson never worked an angle together
It is not uncommon to see male wrestlers work an angle with female talents. During his heyday, Dwayne Johnson worked many angles with female stars like Trish Stratus and Chyna. However, fans never saw him share the screen with Torrie Wilson.

Torrie Wilson arrived in WWE during the WCW/ECW invasion storyline. The Rock played a prominent role in the Invasion angle as a key figure on Vince McMahon’s Team WWE, and Torrie Wilson was involved in some of the more provocative storylines, often working closely with McMahon himself.
Although both stars worked for the same company, they never had the opportunity to work together. While The Rock left for Hollywood in 2004, Wilson remained with the company until 2008.
