Is CM Punk's backstage reputation hurting his legacy, or is he still the best in the world?

CM Punk has garnered a poor reputation in every promotion he has worked in. The Second City Saint’s outspoken personality and incessant demands meant that he left WWE in his first stint and AEW on poor terms. Although his personality has amassed him a large fan following, it has also made things difficult. Nevertheless, it appears that the former WWE Champion has displayed a new lease on life

Fightful recently released a report about Punk’s current backstage reputation. They claimed that he has displayed a courteous nature since making his comeback. The Best in the World has even taken steps to mentor young stars and lead backstage affairs. Not only that, but his opposition to creative’s ideas and willingness to prioritize the product over him has increased.

Since Triple H now holds creative control over the WWE, the promotion has received rave reviews for its quality of storytelling. Despite their strenuous past, Punk has shown a willingness to embrace the new guard. Punk’s feud with Drew McIntyre has garnered a positive reception which could have inspired the change seen in the former AEW star. Both of them are ready for their match at SummerSlam.

The report from Fightful stated, “Thus far, we’ve heard that CM Punk has overcome the reputation he had coming back to WWE, and has been very easy to deal with. One WWE source said that many of the promo lines thrown his way would have likely been an issue last year, but that Punk has handled it well and knows that he’s in the midst of a hot angle. It is worth noting that we’ve not heard significant updates on this element”

With Punk finding his footing in the WWE again, he also wants to further his stay in the promotion.
