CM Punk‘s return to WWE has been long overdue if rumors and speculations are to be believed. Ever since he was fired from AEW, one thing or another has been teasing fans regarding his possible return to the Stamford-based company. Now, it looks like the promotion itself has also hopped onto the trend as fans pick up on the hints.

WWE jumps on board alongside CM Punk

WWE UK recently took to Twitter to upload a picture of Sheamus. In the picture, we can see The Celtic Warrior in a ‘punk’ outfit. This had the promotion upload the caption, “[Sheamus] in his punk era,” while tagging the superstar in the process. However, the Stamford-based company knew that Sheamus wasn’t going to be the highlight of the post when they used the word ‘punk’ in it.

This played with the minds of the fans, who weren’t expecting a tease from WWE anytime soon. A couple of days ago, Punk also teased his arrival in WWE by uploading a workout video on his Instagram story with the ‘Survivor Series’ theme song on it.

CM Punk’s Instagram tease was already messing with wrestling fans who had been awaiting his WWE return for a long time. And now, WWE increased the hype for their upcoming PLE even more. This caused all the fans to assemble in the comment section of their latest post and call them out for the tease.

So far, there is no official news out regarding Punk’s return to WWE. However, all the teases have kept fans on the edges of their seats so far. Now, WWE took the liberty of teasing them too by uploading a picture of Sheamus with a witty caption.

Fans picked up on the hint as one of them joked about the caption. Here we can see a fan cleverly dissecting and abbreviating Sheamus’ name to make it sound more like ‘CM Punk’.
