On RAW, The Miz, Bronson Reed, Ricochet, and Ivar competed in a number one contender’s Fatal 4-Way match. The match ended when The Miz got the victory after pinning Bronson Reed. But there would have been another pinfall with Ricochet being pinned by Ivar, according to the original plan. But it wasn’t the case as Ricochet already took a nasty injury to his head by that time. As Ivar went to pin Ricochet he kicked out, while The Miz secured the win.
Explaining what went wrong Dave Meltzer wrote in his Wrestling Observer newsletter,’‘ If you watch the match, this was not the planned finish. Like, everyone in the ring is confused, they’re all looking around like, ‘What the hell is going on here?”
‘ I am 99% positive that Ricochet was supposed to be pinned, but he was kicked out because he was messed up. Everyone is confused, and the referee makes a deal and it ends up with Ivar laying out The Miz afterward and destroying him with a giant moonsault and leaving him for dead. The crowd chants ‘You suck’ … Ricochet was led off, and he is in the concussion protocol.” he added.
The original finish had called for both The Miz and Ivar to be declared winners as Ricochet was also supposed to be pinned. This would’ve added both The Miz and Ivar in the title match against Gunther at Survivor Series. As of now only the A-Lister is slated for the title shot. But it seems WWE is already on its way to course correction..

Despite repeated interruptions from the referee, Samantha Irvin declared The Miz the winner. Just the next moment, Ivar launched a vicious attack. It led to the official one-to-one match between the two for next week. This could be WWE’s way of pushing Ivar back in the title match as per the intended plan.
