Friday Night SmackDown this week was special for WWE, Triple H, and the live crowd at Tulsa, Oklahoma. The season premiere for the 5th year on Fox Network had many surprises and returns. The appearances from Triple H and Roman Reigns were announced, but a new General Manager was unexpected for fans.

NWA is a promotion with a long and confusing history. It started in 1948 and was one of the top wrestling promotions during the 80s. They lost their prestige in the 21st century, save for Nick Aldis. After Aldis made his unusual debut at WWE, NWA did not forget to pay tribute to him.

The National Wrestling Alliance just took on the opportunity to acknowledge their former World Champion, Nick Aldis. They posted a picture of their World Title with the caption, “That’s why everybody wants it so bad. #tenpoundsofgold.” The picture read “The Ten Pounds of Gold looks good on your resume. Makes sense to us.

The ten pounds of gold phrase was a reference to the gold plate on the World Championship belt. The caption was a reference to the appointment of Nick Aldis as the new General Manager of the SmackDown show.

Nick Aldis, aka Magnus from Impact Wrestling, was the NWA Champion in 2018 and kept the title for over a thousand days. He brought prestige to the title by his stellar performance while defending the title against Colt Cabana, Flip Gordon, and James Storm.

Introducing Aldis to the WWE Universe was a returning Triple H, the Creative Head of WWE. The decision was made after The Game promoted Adam Pearce as the new General Manager of RAW. But more things happened in the segment other than the announcement.

Nick Aldis makes his first impression on the SmackDown roster

The live crowd at Tulsa did not react much to Aldis’ appointment as this was his first on-screen appearance after joining WWE. But the crowd can’t be blamed for this, as he was working behind the scenes as a producer. Aldis was also welcomed by Dirty Dom, but Kevin Owens showed up as the latest draft of SmackDown to take care of the young Mysterio.

Aldis did not waste much time in introducing himself to the SmackDown performers. On his first day at the office, he announced a match between Santos Escobar and Montez Ford.
