In a recent post on Twitter, Journalist Bryan Alvarez revealed the Viewership scores for AEW and WWE NXT as the Wednesday night Wars rage on. In a huge turn of tides, AEW has overtaken NXT in scores and by a big margin.

As you can see in the scores below, NXT’s viewership took a big dent, dropping a whole 17% from the 759,000 it had last week.

As the week stood, AEW ended with a total viewership of 788,000 compared to NXT’s 631,000. AEW dominated the 18-49 Demo as well by being placed at No. 5 compared to NXT’s No. 49.

This can be seen as a huge victory for AEW, which has managed a decisive victory over NXT. What’s more troublesome for WWE is that it threw all their hats in the ring for the NXT episode.

AEW beat WWE on the day that Keith Lee faced Adam Cole in a huge Winner Takes All Match. Despite the big promotions, AEW won the day.

AEW’s growth has been wavy but rising nonetheless

Once again, the ring-leader behind the viewership victories is the one and only Chris Jericho. His excellent “Demo God” promo rallied the fans to AEW’s side.

AEW has been having a bumpy ride in terms of viewership. They hit a huge high mid-June to reach a whopping 772,000  viewers, only to drop the next week to 633,000.

July however, has been a different song altogether for the rival promotion. So far in the three weeks of July, AEW viewership has not dropped below 700,000. If they manage to keep this score on and build on it, they may win the Wednesday Night Wars after all.

The competition against AEW has been the biggest since the notorious Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW that lasted 6 years. This is era is widely referred to as the ‘Golden Age of Wrestling’.

Both companies brought each other to the knees in the fight, and Vince McMahon was on the verge of losing out before excellent promos by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock came to save the day.

WWE can reset the balance of power next week

AEW’s big victory may not last longer than this week. If Viewership ratings have taught us anything, it’s that tides can turn in the blink of an eye.

AEW is seeing the bright light on its YouTube channel as well, which gained more than 400,000 views since last week. It now has 1,786,045 views compared to last week’s 1,343,242.

Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho seem to be the star attraction in views with their explosive charisma. NXT will have to conjure up a lot of special promotions and segments if they are to win this war.

In the front-row seats are the fans, who get the best of both worlds. As WWE and AEW both step up their games, fans will get the best of Wrestling, more than they’ve seen in years.
