WWE is currently a household name with its PLEs and superstars constantly trending on Twitter alongside names like Taylor Swift and Elon Musk. That just goes to show the popularity of the promotion among fans even today. Rival promotions like WCW and many others have come and tried to topple WWE from the top spot but have failed miserably. If there is one person who can claim sole credit for this meteoric rise in WWE’s popularity, it has to be Vince McMahon.
Last night, his brainchild SummerSlam smashed multiple records. It sold a whopping 59,194 tickets in total. It was the highest-grossing SummerSlam in WWE history. Furthermore, it was also the highest-grossing PLE in history next to WrestleMania 39. At the press conference, Chief Content Officer Triple H clarified his father-in-law’s current role in the WWE.

With humble beginnings like starting out as the ring announcer to becoming the ‘Chairman of The Board’ and holding that position for 40 long years, McMahon has come a long way. His ruthless business mind and acumen have helped the company stay at the top of the wrestling world for 40+ years.
But recently Vince McMahon’s spinal cord issue, which required surgery, resulted in the legend leaving the promotion indefinitely. In the interim period, his son-in-law, Triple H, has taken over his duties.
And at the SummerSlam Press conference, a reporter asked ‘The Game’ if he would have any control over creative decisions after McMahon’s return. In response, Triple H praised his father-in-law’s contribution to WWE and confirmed that McMahon is not actively involved in the decision-making process currently. However, he remains a voice of wisdom and guidance that WWE often turns to.
Triple H said, “Vision of what he did changed the business, changed all of it for 50 years, incredible run of success, no greater mind in the business, in this point in time if all of us didn’t look at moments in time for counsel from him on thoughts or ideas, or of we had a question to go to him and ask, would be silly not to. It’s sitting next to somebody that knows more about this or has forgotten more about this than you’ll ever know maybe. And to not utilize that would be silly”.
He later added, “But is he day to day, no. Is he in it all the time, no. If anybody has, he’s earned that right to be able to do that”.
However, this is not the first time McMahon has stepped down from his commanding position.
Sexual assault allegations may have forced Vince McMahon to retire from the WWE
9 months ago, two women accused Mcmahon of sexual assault. But he denied all allegations and continued to plead his innocence. Bleacher Report stated that over a period of 4 years, Mcmahon paid close to $12 million as ‘hush money’ to these women.

McMahon announced his retirement in July on Twitter. The wrestling world was shocked at his announcement. After that, Vince’s daughter Stephanie McMahon took over co-CEO also with WWE President Nick Khan, while Triple H continued to run WWE’s creative division.
Although Mcmahon took on the new role of Executive Chairman of the brand just a few months later, he had to go on a medical leave after his surgery. During this time, a search warrant was issued in his name by the Federal Government. It doesn’t seem Mcmahon will be returning to the CEO’s position anytime soon because of all the legal troubles.
