WWE fans’ excitement for the biggest event of 2025 is as great as the anticipation for its main events. The Rock was one of Cody Rhodes‘ big problems during Road to WrestleMania 40. First, The Rock almost took his place in the main event of the show against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. In addition, ‘The People’s Champion’ created a strong rivalry with Rhodes as a result, which reached its peak on the March 25 episode of RAW in which he made Rhodes bleed in the parking lot.

Although this event aims to be the epicenter of the long-awaited head-to-head against Roman Reigns, the name of Cody Rhodes has sounded more strongly because of the aforementioned reasons.

In fact, Dwayne Johnson even proposed an idea to WWE to build a one-on-one against The American Nightmare. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that The Rock offered a title unification to headline WrestleMania 41. The report notes that The Final Boss could use his People’s Champion belt as a platform to make this match possible.

That belt that The Rock received at the WWE Hall of Fame would be at stake along with Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed Championship, in a unification head-to-head to define the real People’s champion in the WWE. However, the WON report noted that, in response to this offer, WWE clarified that there was a possibility that Cody Rhodes would not arrive at WrestleMania 41 with the Undisputed Championship. Meaning the American Nightmare might lose the title to someone else as planned by Triple H so far.

Of course, these types of long-term plans are always subject to modification on the way to their outcome. While The Rock is absent from WWE’s schedule to continue with his projects in Hollywood, Cody Rhodes still has the title in his hands and has already successfully defended it against AJ Styles at Backlash last Saturday. If the plan ultimately goes ahead, we’ll see when Rock returns.
