Previously wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer noted Jay White’s WWE debut is almost a sure shot. Paring up with other such reports and analyses, it made some more sense to fans. Also, White’s brief crossover with Cody Rhodes in 2018 served as a hint behind his potential WWE debut.
On the other side, AEW’s door looked quite open considering Jay White’s good affinity with several top stars, including Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks of Tony Khan’s promotion. Ultimately, it’s AEW that prevailed over WWE.
A WWE debut is no more in the scene as the 30-year-old finally ended up at AEW a few days back. During the recent edition of AEW Dynamite, the former NPJW superstar joined forces with ex-Bullet club member, Juice Robinson, to turn on Ricky Starks moments before Tony Khan officially confirmed Jay White’s AEW debut. According to the report of Fightful Select, the contract included a multi-year bond between ‘Switchable’ and AEW.

Despite Triple H and other WWE higher-ups showing a fair amount of interest and confidence in signing the New Zealand-born wrestler, they missed out on the promising talent.
Vince McMahon can be a factor behind the unexpected outcome
People within WWE were pretty confident in singing the Switchblade until the unexpected news hit the wrestling world a day after the disappointing Raw after WrestleMania episode. Many of them hoped to see Jay White in that episode as a new member of the Stamford-based company.
Even a WrestleMania appearance was also on the card for the 30-year-old massive superstar. While the outcome the WWE fans, surely have one question in their head: what can be the reason behind snubbing WWE despite all the previous reports and incidents suggesting the reverse?
