When you are talking about the greatest pro wrestlers to ever step into the WWE ring the name John Cena comes to the table. Making his debut in the attitude era, John Cena instantly became a fan favorite thanks to his charismatic persona and his in-ring talent.

Cena was the leading man for the company for over a decade during which he headlined many Wrestlemanias and countless PPVs. The fans were in awe of his work as a WWE superstar both in and out of the ring. However, Cena faced criticism from the fans in the later part of his career.

Many believe Cena was stealing the spotlight from other WWE superstars. He was also criticized for his “lackluster” performances inside the WWE ring. However, it seems the glory days of Cena are behind him as he has moved on to Hollywood to try his luck as an actor. But can he still be considered as one of the greatest to ever do it?

WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross in the latest episode of Grilling JR, talked about the legacy of the 16 times WWE champion and gave his verdict on whether Cena should be on the Mt. Rushmore of WWE. Ross said:

“If John Cena’s not on the Mt. Rushmore of WWE stars, then there don’t need to be a Mt. Rushmore. Knock it down and build an apartment building or something. You don’t need the mountain. He’s on that mountain and he’s very firmly in place.”

Ross even claimed that Cena should easily be among the top 5 greatest superstars in the history of WWE. Ross also praised Cena for his work ethic and integrity.

“One of the top five babyfaces in the history of WWE, without a doubt, hands down. And a personal favorite of mine because of his character and his work ethic and his integrity. You never had to worry about John Cena embarrassing the company outside or inside of the cocoon. So he’s without a doubt, and that’s saying he’s a top five babyface in WWE history, that includes Bruno, Hogan, Austin, Rock, Undertaker, all these dudes. He belongs in that same conversation. Top five at worst, in my estimation. I’m not going to name the top five because it’s so subjective.” claimed Jim Ross
