However, HHH made the difficult decision for his health and for his family. And, it’s a given that nothing comes above one’s well-being and health.

Triple H retired Batista at WrestleMania 35

Batista returned to the company in 2018 during the 1000th episode of WWE SmackDown. He praised The Evolution members, but revealed that Triple H had never defeated him. At this point, HHH refrained from answering however.

A couple of months later, Batista arrived at the ring and attacked Ric Flair before his 70th birthday celebrations. Next, he called out HHH.

When the duo finally came face to face, Batista demanded a final match against The Game at WrestleMania 35. It was a No Holds Barred match with a retirement stipulation, i.e., whoever lost would leave WWE.

Both of them put up a good fight, but HHH continued to use steel chairs and steps to punish The Animal. During the final moments of the match, Flair arrived ringside and handed the sledgehammer to The Game.

HHH thrashed The Animal with the sledgehammer before executing a brutal pedigree on him, and secured the victory. This marked Batista’s last match in WWE, and his retirement. Additonally, this was Triple H’s last WWE PPV.
