Before Tony Khan‘s deal with WBD could come to an end, he started negotiating with the same entertainment conglomerate to extend his stay. Reports about the deal have been coming in left and right ever since the negotiations began. Now, one part of the deal has reportedly come to an end, meaning the two parties have reached some form of conclusion.

When the reports started coming in long ago, it is said that the money that AEW has been offered as part of the deal is more than 50% higher than his ongoing deal with WBD. Later, there were also rumors about Khan not being happy with the offer that he was getting, but it was later debunked. Now, Fightful Select reports, “the exclusive negotiating window with All Elite Wrestling and WBD ended this week.” David Zaslav and Khan are set to meet this weekend in Paris during the Olympics. Moreover, the same source added that “the two sides speak weekly about synergy, co-promotion, and upcoming plans.”

It seems like Tony Khan has got the deal at his side and is moving his company to a safer future for however long it’ll stay with WBD. Although the numbers of the deal aren’t yet clear, a source at the entertainment conglomerate revealed that ‘Max’ was also part of the dialogues when Khan was trying to negotiate. So, keep an eye out for it as a wrestling fan. Meanwhile, Khan can’t help but invite criticism despite closing this deal.

During the negotiation part of this deal, some reports reached Khan’s biggest online critic, Eric Bischoff. The wrestling industry veteran was not happy with the deal that WBD offered AEW. This is because he believed that the wrestling promotion still had many things to work on and they didn’t do justice to earn a new deal. He made a bold statement about how the multi-million dollar deal won’t save Tony Khan’s company. Instead, he believes that irrespective of what amount he is offered, Bischoff won’t like AEW until the bookers of the company know how to ‘tell a story’.

Eric Bischoff has called out the President of AEW on several occasions, and this was one of them. His words struck even before the deal did, back in June 2024.
